Circular dichroism spectroscopy (circular dichroism) is a method based on optical anisotropy, manifested in the difference in the absorption coefficients of light polarized in the right and left circles. This method allows us to evaluate the symmetry of the absorbing molecule. If a molecule does not have an inversion center, then it does not equally absorb right-polarized and left-polarized light waves, since the corresponding dipole moments of the transitions do not coincide with each other. Therefore, the circular dichroism method is applicable to complex enzymes containing asymmetric components in their composition. Circular dichroism JASCO spectrometers (spectropolarimeters, dichrometers, CD spectrometer) usually use UV and visible spectral regions.
